2005-11-29-Youngsters helping Aids awareness
Young people are helping to raise awareness about HIV and Aids in Jersey.
Some are performing drama in their schools and others are taking part in special assemblies.
The island's Aids Care Education and Training (ACET) group has also produced a new booklet called "HIV - Facts for Life", which is for young people.
Recent figures from the United Nations suggested that almost half of new HIV infections were in young people aged between 15 and 24.
Students at Beaulieu School are having a special assembly and are organising a dress-down day to raise money for the Acet charity.
At the Jersey College for Girls, students are putting on a drama which challenges complacency about Aids.
Meanwhile, Acet has been recognised for the way its staff are trained and supported. It has been awarded an Investors in People standard.
Organisations which meet the standard must show they are committed to a business plan and staff training.
