It's often necessary to cut into the brain to see some of its important parts. The corpus callosum is no exception. With the brain split right down the middle, the coprus callosum looks like this:

(Note the back part of the corpus callosum -- the splenium, the part that, when spared, could prevent the separation of the right and left personalities.)

The next two pictures are of what anatomist's call coronal sections of the brain -- slices that run parallel with the band on a pair of ear muffs. Notice how the corpus callosum looks here:
