Epilepsy


Epileptic causes seizures and convulsions. This chronic disease is caused by abnormal electrical activity from nerve cells in one section ofthe cerebral cortex of the brain. Seizures vary as to intensity. Petit mal seizures are less severe. The sufferer may have some twitching symptoms. Grand mal type seizuresare sever, with convulsions, jerking, unconsciousness. Three quarters of Epilepsy sufferers begin showing symptoms in childhood, and there appears to be a genetic predisposition to thecondition. The disease may begin with infection, head injuries, fever,lack of oxygen and other factors. In many cases, the cause is unknown.
